YouTube Content ID is an automated system that enables copyright owners to identify & monetize on videos that include content they own. This means you have the ability to make money from anyone who uses your content without your permission. However, when multiple parties claim ownership on the same asset (i.e. Sound Recording), a conflict incurs and YouTube holds all revenue until the issue is resolved.

Fortunately, Vydia’s Conflict Dashboard makes it easy for you to resolve ownership conflicts and receive monetization revenue from YouTube. It’s important to resolve your conflicts quickly, which is why our new Conflicts tab was designed for you to view & download all YouTube Content ID conflicts in one place. Read on to learn more on how it works!

CONFLICTS DASHBOARD OVERVIEW

Log into your Vydia account and on the main navigation bar, click Insights → Conflicts. Here you will see a table listing all of your conflicts data. Use the Filter at the top to view data on the label, user, artist, or media levels. The Active Conflicts tab will show you outstanding assets in conflict which still need to be addressed, whereas Resolved Conflicts will show you conflicts that have already been resolved with the conflicting owner.

The asset in conflict will be listed under Copyright in Conflict. It will either state Music Video, Sound Recording, Composition, or Web. We understand that prioritizing conflicts can be tricky, which is why we have the Est. Daily Views column. When resolving conflicts, videos with the most views per day should be first on your list to resolve. That is because they are most likely generating the most revenue at the time that you are viewing your conflict report. All of the columns in the table are sortable, so you can sort by the highest number of daily views. So, clearing these up first will most likely free up the most revenue for you.

HOW YOU CAN RESOLVE CONFLICTS

On the Conflicts Dashboard, you will see a Send Report button. Here is where you are able to send out a conflicts report to the emails you specify, so that either yourself or other stakeholders will be able to download a CSV with detailed conflicts data.

Use this report to determine conflicting owners so you can then find their contact information to request they remove ownership. Being that you have granted Vydia an exclusive license to claim your content on your behalf, it is paramount that you handle this quickly.

Pro Tip: You can filter the columns down by conflicting owners so all of the content in conflict with the same conflicting party populates together. It’s more efficient to reach out to a conflicting owner once for all conflicts, rather than multiple times for each separate conflicting asset.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

If someone else is claiming ownership of your asset, you will not receive payment until the conflict is cleared. By having total visibility of all ownership conflicts in question, you have the ability to resolve them yourself. Start referencing your Conflicts Dashboard on a regular basis and make sure you are maximizing on all YouTube revenue today!
