An exuberant rapper from Atlanta has cracked the code to viral success on TikTok. With larger-than-life lyrics and an infectious beat, Mak Sauce took hold of the #1 trending sound on TikTok with his track ‘Good Morning.’ To date, the single has been shared in over 1.3 million videos. Mak’s viral success spans beyond TikTok alone, ‘Good Morning’ has also generated millions of streams across Apple Music (1.6 million), Spotify (1.6 million), SoundCloud (2.4 million) and YouTube (5.2 million).
Prior to ‘Good Morning’s’ success, Mak Sauce was already making a name for himself in the music industry. At only 18-years-old, he has released four successful projects in two years that feature collaborations with DaBaby, Lil Baby, Mundo Shoy and Lil Keed. In an exclusive interview with Vydia, this creator-to-watch reveals his thoughts behind his viral success on TikTok and what fans can expect in the new year. Here’s what he had to say:
What motivated you to pursue a career in music?
My brother, Big Boe. He was actually the first person to ever take me to the studio and believe in me.
Where did the Saturn Boy persona originate from?
It’s not a persona, I’m really from Saturn, I like Earth but Saturn is home.
How would you describe your sound?
Very intergalactic animated and brain-busting. No one sounds like Mak Sauce.
Did growing up in Atlanta have any impact on your music? If so, how?
Yeah, it’s definitely impacted my music. My music is based on life experiences, what I go through and the things I see. Atlanta is my life experience so a bit of my music has an Atlanta nightlife influence. It’s you want to hear when you get here and ready to turn up.
You released your first mixtape ‘Blind To Reality 2’ in 2017 and have since dropped 3 additional projects in the past 2 years. What motivates you to continually hit the studio and drop new music at such a rapid rate?
The studio is my home. This world is crazy so I hit the studio and get lost in it. It’s a natural feeling to create, so I just talk into the mic and go crazy. Sometimes I don’t even remember the lyrics because I’m going off of the top of my head. My mind goes a mile a minute and that’s how I create a masterpiece.
How have you grown as an artist since your initial mixtape?
I’m perfecting my sound. I want the kids to turn on the radio and know it’s Mak Sauce. I’m older now so my experiences have changed a lot. I’m traveling more and I’m around different people every day. I’m feeding off of the energy that’s around me and staying true to my sound.
In the past 3 years, you have also had the opportunity to collaborate with major hip hop artists including DaBaby, Lil Baby, and Lil Keed. What is the biggest takeaway you’ve received from working with these artists?
They all go crazy. I’m proud of what they’ve done so far and now it’s time for Mak Sauce to show the world. It’s my time.
Who would your dream collaboration be with?
James Brown, Prince and Young Thug on one song.
One of your most recent tracks ‘Good Morning’ is currently trending on TikTok with over 1.5 million shares to date! What was the inspiration behind this single?
Just creating and wanting to give the people something to feel good about. It was a vibe and I knew it was going to be a hit soon as I finished it.
What do you think contributed to its viral success on TikTok?
I love the people and the people love Mak Sauce, It’s a fun song so it’s only right you turn up to it.
Will you continue to use TikTok to release your music?
I love TikTok and I’m going to continue to create fire music and give people the content they love. It’s destiny.
Can fans look forward to more new music to close out 2019?
I’m always in the studio. My team and I have been working, that’s all we do. We are going to finish the 4th quarter strong, so be ready. Yasss!
What is your goal as a creator in 2020?
Take over everything.

What’s one fact no one knows about you?
I have 30 boxes of cereal at home with one gallon of milk in the fridge.
