Vydia has appointed Rick Saporta as the new Director of Data Science to aid in the continuation of Vydia’s growth and enhance its user experience. Saporta has an extensive background in the convergence of music and technology both professionally and personally. Prior to Vydia, Saporta founded the Data Science department at a video distribution startup The Orchard, which played an integral role in getting the company acquired by Sony in 2015.

At Vydia, Saporta will be focused on establishing and expanding the Data Science team, which currently includes UPenn Computational Chemist, Michael Reca. The Data Science department will enable users to manage their video content better by analyzing deep video consumption statistics and converting that information into digestible data. This data will give video creators insightful information about where they should be focusing their efforts to increase both their video view count as well as their earnings. Saporta explains, “… Data Science will directly help creators to better understand the people they’re attracting and leverage that information to get more attention for the work they’re doing. It will also serve those who are consuming the content to find different creators that they didn’t even know existed by predicting what kind of content they’d enjoy viewing.”
