In a few days, Vydia will head to Austin, TX to rock the SXSW Discovery Stage. Not only will we be showcasing our latest innovative technology, we will also be holding multiple panels featuring some of our most talented creators. Here’s a sneak peak into some of our rockstar panelists that will be with us at SXSW:
Mary Lambert
Singer-songwriter, poet, cellist, spoken word artist, and Grammy nominee are just a few words to describe our first panelist, the multi-talented Mary Lambert. This Vydia talent is best known for her transcendent chorus in Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ triple-platinum hit, “Same Love”, which she wrote from her vantage point of being both a Christian and a lesbian. She is a fiercely candid writer who turns her past traumas into art. Lambert had an unconventional and traumatic past filled with abuse, sexual assault, drugs and alcohol, and more in which she’s grown to cope and express through her music. Her latest album Bold is available worldwide and as Lambert puts it, “is a queer pop EP about being unabashedly yourself. I think that we are in an era where embracing and loving your real, complex self is radical, and this collection of songs epitomizes that belief”. You won’t want to miss the awe-inspiring Mary Lambert share her stories and advice, so make sure you stop by and check out our panel. In the meantime, watch Mary Lambert kill it in her video, “Know Your Name”:
Emma White
Our next panelist, Emma White, was one of Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know”, one of Buzzfeed’s “2018 Country Music Obsessions”, and had her single, “I Thought You Were the One” featured on popular Spotify and Apple Music playlists. Born into a musical family with a songwriter mother, White began writing songs at a very early age incorporating Pop, Country, & R&B sounds. White’s success hasn’t gone unnoticed as she’s independently garnered 2 million streams, has opened for Superstar country acts, Rodney Atkins and Brad Paisley, performed the National Anthem for the Lakers several times, and toured in venues across the country. Watch Emma White perform a soothing acoustic version of her song, “Overthink It”:
Emily Hackett
Our third panelist is up-and-coming Nashville country-pop artist, Emily Hackett. The singer/songwriter was raised in Atlanta, GA and likes to speak the truth, incorporating her emotions into her music. She sticks to her southern roots and lights up the stage. Emily Hackett has seen major success opening for Country stars Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Rascal Flatts after winning the 2014 national Belk’s Modern Southern Music Showcase. Over the past few years, she’s release two EPs, As It Comes and Fury, Fear and Heartbreak, and garnered more than half a million views on YouTube for her cover of Lorde’s hit “Royals”. Make sure to stop by and listen to Emily Hackett at our SXSW Discovery Stage. For now, check out the music video to one of her most popular songs, “Nostalgia”:
