One of the benefits of selecting a Vydia Plan is having the option to monetize your audio and video content. By selecting a monetize policy, content containing your works will be claimed as yours, and subsequently have revenue generated from audience-appropriate advertisements being placed alongside the claimed content.

Please be advised that by selecting a monetize policy, content that you upload on your social media platforms will be claimed as well in order to apply your monetization policy. Also, note that selecting a monetize policy does not guarantee that revenue will be generated; but rather enables the option for ads to generate revenue.

In order to start monetizing, users must create a release on their ‘My Content’ dashboard and select ‘Monetize’ as the protection policy across YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. 

Yes. Though you will grant Vydia an exclusive license to monetize/protect your content, you will retain 100% ownership of your copyrights. While you retain full ownership of your content, you cannot grant the same rights to other parties. Granting rights to multiple parties may cause a conflict and will not result in additional earnings. In fact, doing so may put your earnings on hold until the conflict is resolved.

YouTube Ownership Conflicts occur when another YouTube partner attempts to claim ownership over an exclusive copyright Vydia is also administering for you. Ownership Conflicts put your content’s revenue on hold for as long as the conflicting party’s ownership remains, so it is important to resolve these conflicts as soon as possible.

The International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) is a unique, 12 character code that identifies specific sound recordings and/or music videos. As a Vydia user, if you do not have ISRCs for your content, we can create them for you at no additional cost. For more information on ISRCs, please click here.

If you are a Vydia user and have received a notification that Vydia is claiming your content, don’t panic! This means that Vydia is claiming this content on your behalf. This is required in order for us to enforce your chosen protection policy on your content.

If you are not a Vydia user and got a claim – The majority of Vydia clients apply a monetize policy on their content. This allows your video to remain live and play on YouTube, however, this claim allows the rights holder to monetize the video accordingly. Please note that no copyright strikes will occur so long as you allow Vydia’s claim to remain.

If there is an aspect of your content that you did not create yourself, you must be granted an exclusive license from the original rights owner in order to claim the content as your own. Below are some examples of content that would require an exclusive license from the original rights owner:

• Non-exclusive images
• Clips or snippets of another user’s video that you do not own
• Beats created by other producers
• Musical samples from content that you do not own

Based on content strategy goals, the Vydia platform enables creators to select different protection policies for how they want their content managed on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The 4 protection policies include:

• Monetize– selected platforms may display advertisements with the content, which generates revenue that Vydia collects on behalf of the rights holder.
• Block– selected platforms will prevent users from uploading protected content.
• Permit– selected platforms will allow users to upload content that contains copyrighted material. Performance metrics, like views, will be tracked; However, no revenue will be generated.
• No Policy– Vydia will not claim copyrighted content on selected platforms.

Similar to an ISRC, a Universal Product Code (UPC) is a unique 12 character code that identifies unique products like CDs and digital albums. ISRC’s identify individual tracks while UPC’s identify the complete album. As a Vydia user, if you do not have UPCs for your content, we can create them for you at no additional cost.

Please note you will need both an ISRC and UPC to deliver your audio and video content to streaming platforms.

Once we receive earnings statements from our partner platforms, we will ingest them into our system. Partner platforms have various schedules for statements and payouts. Typically, it can take anywhere from 1 to 4 months (depending on the revenue source) before earned revenue is made available to you.

The earnings you accrue can either be used as a credit towards any services on our site or paid out to you directly once you register with our payment system, Tipalti. Please note that you are only eligible to sign up with Tipalti once you accumulate a minimum balance of $35, verify your email addresses, connect at least one valid social media account. Once you have successfully onboarded with Tipalti, payments will automatically be sent to you on a monthly basis around mid-month starting the next applicable pay period.
